Mailiao Township Social Education Park

When architecture becomes a vessel of culture, it becomes more than space—it becomes a profound dialogue between people and place. Situated in coastal Yunlin, this public project integrates a library and aesthetic living center to embody both historical depth and forward-looking values.
Design began with climate: responding to sunlight and wind with deep overhangs, double-layered walls, and large semi-outdoor zones. These create passive cooling and comfort. The two structures form the Aesthetic Incubation Plaza, a shaded, wind-protected gathering space. Brick, used extensively throughout the façade, echoes rural memory while fostering dialogue between the traditional and contemporary.
With the ethos of “Cultural Sustainability, Everyday Aesthetics,” the park supports reading, lifelong learning, and creative exhibitions—serving all ages. It has become a foundation for local revitalization and a reason for younger generations to stay and belong.
