A Blooming Ride, Illuminating Hualien is the teaser film for the 2026 Hualien Pacific Ocean Lantern Festival. Using film as a medium, it serves as a city-branded “love letter” crafted specifically for Hualien.

The concept is rooted in Hualien’s defining elements—its mountains, ocean, wind, and everyday human life. Within a concise narrative, the film distills the city’s unique character and vitality.

Unlike conventional event previews, this work incorporates a sense of “breathing” into its narrative core. It visualizes lantern installations, fireworks, and festival scenes, guiding viewers from visual perception toward emotional awareness, allowing them to experience Hualien as a place of spiritual origin and slow living.

The project’s defining feature lies in the integration of “local storytelling” and “AI technology.” Structured around everyday life, the film captures intimate moments—local shops, children running, and coastal stillness—extending Hualien’s charm from physical landscapes into emotional and social dimensions.

A key visual is the horse motif, specially developed for Hualien. Beyond referencing the Year of the Horse as a festive symbol, the patterns on the horse incorporate visual elements such as the Qingshui Cliffs, the Pacific Ocean, rice fields, and cultural diversity. Together, they symbolize Hualien’s steady and resilient spirit.

The team believes that creative essence is not diminished by tools, but rather enhanced through collaboration with them. In addition to the main film, a 10-second short version was produced, distilling core values such as hope, cultural integration, awareness, and joy. This allows flexible adaptation across social media platforms and physical displays while maintaining narrative coherence.
