This neo-Chinese style pattern collection centers on the idea of “a sunlit spring day—gentle, bright, and full of life.” It reinterprets traditional auspicious symbols through a modern lens, addressing a common challenge: traditional patterns often feel out of place in contemporary scenarios.
Traditional auspicious patterns feature dense detailing, which can easily make them look overcrowded. When applied directly to modern products, they tend to create unnecessary visual noise. This collection takes a different approach by rethinking the composition through a layered strategy. The finely detailed Chinese paradise-flycatchers and flowers become the clear focal points, while the intricate vine patterns are subtly toned down. By balancing densely decorated areas with breathing room, the overall composition feels both balanced and refined. The same logic extends to the color palette, which follows a three-tier system: burgundy as the dominant color, gold as the accent, and warm brown to balance their visual weight. Off-white outlines are used to define the shapes. In this way, the design retains the traditional spirit of celebration and good fortune, while softening the visual intensity of large red areas to better align with modern aesthetics.
The design also draws inspiration from the embroideries of the Ming and Qing dynasties, as well as imperial vessel shapes. Classic forms like butterflies, gourds, and crabapple blossom-shaped lattice windows are reimagined in diverse geometric aesthetics, including rectangular, square, and other special shapes. These patterns are then applied to a range of products such as throw pillows and floor mats. Even though the shapes vary, they all share a cohesive visual language, creating a collection that remains instantly recognizable yet versatile enough for specific settings, from festive wedding decoration to modern Chinese-style interiors.
