One Poche is a cultural espresso bar and gallery designed as a social salon celebrating the spirit of collecting and sharing. The name comes from the French word poche, meaning “pocket” — a metaphor for the small, precious things we keep close, take out, and pass on. Conceived as an architectural homage to a Belgian toy collector known simply as “A,” the project draws inspiration from his warm tradition of welcoming visitors by pulling wind-up toys, chocolates, or tangerines from his pockets to share.

In a world where museums have grown formal and distanced, One Poche revives the lost intimacy of human exchange. Its concept, One Pocket for Pure Relationship, transforms the collector’s gesture of giving into spatial form. The interior unfolds like the inside of a pocket — soft, curved, and warm — with three central motifs: pouch, orange, and chocolate. The outer pocket serves as a welcoming espresso bar, the inner pocket as a small exhibition and performance space, and the innermost pocket as an archive lounge for quiet conversation and reflection.

Color and material palettes follow the emotional rhythm of the concept: chocolate browns and tangerine hues evoke sweetness and warmth, while soft textures and curved walls create an acoustically rich space ideal for classical performances or intimate gatherings. At its center, a glass showcase doubles as a coffee counter and exhibition plinth, allowing art and beverage, collection and conversation, to coexist naturally.

Since its opening, One Poche has hosted small-scale exhibitions, art films, and classical concerts based on collecting culture, continuing the narrative of Project MG’s earlier exhibition Toyshop of Wonders : Big Stories of Small Things. One Poche is not merely a café or gallery — it is a living pocket of empathy, curiosity, and gentle connection, inviting people to pause, share, and rediscover the simple joy of giving.
