Located in the Gucheng City Park in Linfen, Shanxi Province, a place that preserves the earliest features of China and is the cradle of Chinese civilization, this project is adjacent to a wealth of historical and cultural resources, including the Taosi Cultural Site with over 4,500 years of history, the Ding Village Site, the Iron Buddha Temple, the Fencheng Ancient Town, and the Feihong Pagoda of Guangsheng Temple.
The main structures consist of three grand courtyards relocated from villages around Linfen. The earliest among them dates back to 1697 AD. These courtyards embody the residential architectural style of southern Shanxi during the Ming and Qing dynasties, renowned for their brick carvings, layouts, and cultural connotations.
It took 13 years to complete the project. The design is committed to preserving the authenticity of the original architecture while transforming the interior and exterior spaces into a living realm that transcends time. Striking a balance between these two aspects was key. This project is a comprehensive design undertaking, encompassing architectural additions (the lobby and restaurant), interior design, courtyard landscaping, lighting and signage design, and furnishings. Across the three courtyards housing 24 guest rooms, attention to detail ensures every element pays respect for traditional culture.
This project represents an exploration of innovation and preservation. We firmly believe that for cultural heritage, the greatest tribute is protection, and the truest form of inheritance is revitalization.
