This relocation project for Macquarie, a global financial institution, sought to integrate the company’s global design concept while introducing a distinct Tokyo identity. To achieve this, the design incorporates natural materials such as wood and mortar, along with Japanese - inspired elements like wooden lattice structures, offering a spatial experience that reflects both the essence of Tokyo and the spirit of Japanese design.
In line with the color strategy used in Macquarie’s global offices, seasonal tones were introduced across various zones, bringing a sense of rhythm and visual diversity to the workspace.
A central corridor, named the 'Boulevard', connects the private office areas and functions as a spatial device for natural interaction and movement. Along this main thoroughfare, café, open meeting areas, phone booths, and printing stations are strategically placed to encourage casual encounters and spontaneous communication among employees.
All utilities, including storage areas and shower rooms, are efficiently consolidated into the core of the floor plan, while workspaces for each department are positioned along the perimeter to ensure equitable access to natural light. The café and other shared areas are enriched with abundant greenery, promoting both mental and physical well-being. The combination of plant life and natural daylight contributes to a healthy, comfortable, and inspiring work environment.
