This project embraces an ultra-minimalist black, white, and gray color scheme, evoking a contemporary ink painting—quiet, reserved, and introspective. It offers a serene retreat for a modern single man amidst the city’s hustle. The designer blends materials for a balance of warmth and edge: Angola pearl marble’s smooth texture, titanium-coated metal’s cool sharpness, glass’s light transparency, and artistic paint’s delicate finish. These contrasting elements merge into a refined, tranquil space that reflects urban sophistication.
The design uses clean lines and geometric color blocks, avoiding excess decoration. Within the minimalist palette, the space gains rich visual depth and tension. Light and shadow move freely, enlivening the environment and creating a calm escape from the outside world.
To meet the owner’s need for open, practical spaces, the designer reconfigured two small rooms, turning one into a semi-walled study. This change improved light and airflow while extending views across public areas, blending function with beauty. The layout connects reading, working, and relaxing seamlessly. At the entrance, a custom glass partition serves as a subtle foyer, aligning with the Chinese feng shui principle of "concealment." It softens the direct view of the interior while keeping transparency, adding a sense of ritual to entering the home.
This project carefully explores materials, textures, and craftsmanship, creating a tailored space for a modern single man who values style and comfort. It’s a private sanctuary that mirrors his taste while offering peace. A minimalist yet profound black-and-white haven, it balances tranquility and strength, reflecting a commitment to quality living and human-centered design.
