2024 Taichung International Flower Carpet Festival

The Taichung International Flower Carpet Festival has been held for many consecutive years, has become a prominent highlight in the international green tourism market and attracting both domestic and international visitors. In addition to establishing an impressive reputation and showcasing local characteristics, one of its goals is to promote the development of the local green economy.

This year’s theme, “A Flower World in Space,” features multiple artistic installations inspired by the thriving mushroom cultivation industry in Xinshe, Taichung. The theme addresses the environmental challenges of the large quantities of the wasted Sawdust bag. These Sawdust bag are showcased through three-dimensional floral installations as examples of cyclical reuse, creating a unique “A Flower World in Space” exclusive to Xinshe. Visitors embark on a journey of awareness and are encouraged to participate in sustainable actions.

Sustainability efforts extend beyond the festival grounds and into surrounding communities, harnessing the festival’s influence to revitalize local areas. This year, the festival partnered with local long-term care institutions, involving hundreds of elderly residents and kindergarten children in collaborative creations. Together, they established a co-creation hub where the results of their planting projects are displayed. Through simple gardening activities facilitated by the festival, participants gain confidence, fostering green elder care, artistic co-creation, and community beautification.This initiative promotes social welfare and creates a shared sense of community benefit, forming a positive and sustainable cycle.
