The project is an office renovation designed for two occupational therapists, creating a space that is both therapeutic and comfortable for exceptional children and their parents. Inspired by the brand "Balmy," symbolizing warmth and sunlight’s gentle embrace, the designer chose a circular ceiling as the central element, infusing the space with the comforting quality of winter sun and the clarity of summer light.
In response to the north-facing orientation, the designer incorporated numerous curved elements in the reception and waiting areas. The soft, bending forms produce layered shifts of light and shadow, like a gentle heartbeat flowing into the interior. The use of a specialized printing technique for stone textures speaks to a balance of resilience and warmth. Natural mineral paint with a magnetic feature captures each child's learning journey. The gradual shifts in light and shadow mirror each child’s unique path of growth—steady and forward-moving, at their own pace.
