The stale residence was given a new life via renovation. Before refurbished, it was a long narrow rectangular space which resulted in insufficient natural lighting in the interior space. Therefore, one of the main goals for the design was to bring the natural light into the residence. The design team overcame the challenge via using transparent materials, turning direction of the kitchen, and enlarging windows. In addition, through a thorough analysis of customers’ requirements and of conditions of the space, the design team found the residence have not only an issue for insufficient natural lighting but also a problem for poor circulation which need to be addressed so they rebuilt the layout to make the circulation become smoother. Then, the daylight penetrated in the house by enlarging windows and some cabinets with open shelves and closed compartments which creates a warm atmosphere. The design team used some elements like OSB solid wood fiberboard, wood plank tiles, gray colored glass, grey mirror, and iron components to create a look of the Vintage Industrial style. In the kitchen, the color of the island is royal blue which is consistent with the color of the molding line board on the kitchen cabinetry. The white ceiling in the kitchen and the fine grained white marble pattern on the top of island complement each other perfectly. Moreover, the wall in the study room is covered with green that complement the natural wood tones, giving the space a vibrantly contrast ambiance. Eventually, after renovation, it becomes a stunning flat which is in line with the newlywed’s needs and expectations and improves the original problems for the space.
