About The Entry

Departing from conventional design norms, we seamlessly blend natural surrounding elements and local aesthetics into our approach. By embracing the concept of deconstructing the building, we extend the essence of living from the interior to the exterior. This shift in perspective underscores the structure and accentuates the significance of intermediary spaces amidst the surrounding walls. By delineating spaces, guiding movement flow, and selecting materials, we establish a harmonious relationship between the architecture and its environment. Simultaneously, we merge the building with its surroundings, further celebrating its unique local character. This approach aims to enhance the retirement lifestyle by creating a comfortable and tranquil home atmosphere.

By emphasizing a seamless integration with nature, the design incorporates natural elements such as Yakisugi (burnt timber cladding) for the building structure and local stone materials for the walls, delineating the boundaries of the living space. In contrast to the confines often imposed by urban settings, the design ethos calls for a harmonious fusion of the living space with orchards, courtyards, and the architectural framework itself. This integration encompasses elements of light, circulation, functionality, and aesthetics, fostering an organic flow between indoor and outdoor realms. Furthermore, interior spaces are adorned with clay coatings, facilitating the building's symbiotic relationship with the local environment. This subtle and understated design approach allows the structure to blend seamlessly into its surroundings.

The design team has chosen elements derived from traditional natural building materials, such as Yakisugi, known for their excellent resistance to decay and weathering, ensuring durability over extended periods. These materials are masterfully fused with carbonized bamboo and stone, further enhancing the integration of the structure with its natural surroundings. Inside, the use of natural clay continues the seamless blending of architecture with the environment, weaving effortlessly amidst the neighboring forests and lush orchards. This meticulous attention to materials fosters a distinctive and unspoiled landscape, where the building harmonizes with its surroundings in a symbiotic embrace.
