Plastic accounts for about 60% to 80% of marine garbage, and it is increasing year by year, seriously affecting the human living environment and biological ecological environment. According to Science News, research published in the Journal of Hazardous Materials found that not only are mussels immune to microplastic poisoning, but they may have a way of filtering microplastics out of seawater. Mussels ingest microplastics and other pollutants, but they can trap them in their feces. These excrements sink to the seabed and are more stably stored in seabed sediments, thereby effectively eliminating microplastics in the water. For this reason, our team designed a mussel farming purifier, which uses the ability of mussels to filter microplastics, and uses advanced nanofiltration technology to collect mussel feces to purify seawater. This product effectively captures and isolates microplastic particles in water. Smart sensors are installed inside, which can detect the concentration of microplastics in the water and the amount of mussel feces collected in real time, which is convenient for fishermen to recycle the collected microplastics.
